Columbia University Medical Center

The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) of Columbia University has been a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive center for more than 30 years. In partnership with New York Presbyterian Hospital, it continually earns marks that place it among the top cancer hospitals in the nation, and the facility maintains that designation by employing some of the best and most renowned cancer researchers and clinicians in the U.S.

HICCC diagnoses and treats about 3,500 new patients each year and regularly maintains a roster of about 200 clinical trials addressing a variety of forms of cancer. As with most comprehensive cancer centers, HICCC strives to offer a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of the disease, offering oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, and an extensive support staff that all work together to design individual treatment plans for each patient. The hospital employs several doctors who specialize in mesothelioma and other thoracic cancers, and through state-of-the-art facilities, HICCC is able to offer meso patients the best in treatment options, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. It also offers supportive and mental health services for patients and their families who need help dealing with a mesothelioma diagnosis.
